Maintenance Matters

Vertical gardens are precision ecosystems, not “set and forget” installations. Without the right expertise and consistent care, even the most carefully planned wall will decline.

Vertical Gardens Australia offers professional maintenance for both residential and commercial clients. Whether you have a small garden at home or a large-scale installation across a commercial building, our team is equipped to manage it.

Our range of maintenance plans are designed to protect your investment and keep your garden thriving all year round.

The Fundamentals

A thriving vertical garden is a striking visual feature for any space and keeping it that way is what maintenance is all about. Vertical gardens have specific requirements that differ from standard landscaping, attending to them consistently ensures a vibrant garden year-round instead of one that slowly loses its impact. There are several key areas for attention to keep your garden healthy, happy and looking its absolute best.

Foliage and Presentation

Regular removal of dead leaves and spent growth keeps the wall looking its best and improves airflow around the plants. Pruning is equally important, trimming overgrown foliage encourages healthy new growth, maintains the shape and balance of the wall, and ensures all plants receive adequate light.
Drip trays need to be cleared to prevent blockages and overflow that can damage surrounding surfaces.

Nutrition and Fertilising

Plants in a vertical system rely entirely on what is delivered to them. Fertilising needs to be done with the right products for the specific species in your wall, at the right time and in the correct amounts. Under-fertilising limits growth; over-fertilising causes its own problems.

Pest and Disease Control

Early identification is everything. Pests and fungal disease can establish quickly in a wall environment, and by the time they are obvious, they are already well progressed. Regular inspection and timely treatment keeps small issues from becoming significant ones.

Irrigation Management

Irrigation schedules need to be adjusted as seasons change, more water in the hotter months and less in the cold. Dripper heads should be inspected and pressure-tested to ensure each plant is receiving water evenly. A blocked dripper or a poorly calibrated timer can quietly stress or kill plants before the problem becomes visible.
